Our Winter 2018 News!

Thanks to additional CISSSO funding in the amount of $208 000 over 15 months, not only will we be able to maintain slots in our 2018-2019 weekend groups and day camp groups, but we will be able to develop two new services: a support program for adult housing and overnight weekend respite for families with teens and adults. These projects stem from the Quebec National Autism Plan.

Most of the Fall job vacancies were filled. Zuwena Walters is our new communications officer.  Annie Séguin stays with us as administrative assistant-receptionist. Three new educators, Rocksanne Pelletier-Beauregard, Ibrahima Diallo and Janie Gauvin, have joined the adult sector. The program coordinator position is still open and we are working hard to fill it.

We are pleased that some twenty families were welcomed as members in mid-January and were able to access services.

Several programs are currently running or will be set up soon thanks to donations to the FQA from the Knights of Columbus and Centura. These include: financial support to families for respite, support for Multisport Outaouais, music workshops with Mohamed Ghoul, initial workshops for parents, teen workshops with the Vicki Laframboise’s speech therapy clinic, as well as upcoming conferences. THANKS!!!

In January, following a social media contest, IDÉO, well-known in the autism community for its marvellous magnetic pictograms, donated thousands of pictograms to TUOI. The pictograms will be used in our programs, of course, but we intend to share them with certain families and various community partners. Stay tuned…

Funding from Emploi Quebec will allow TUOI to hire the firm ESPI who will help us improve our performance in attracting and retaining staff. This should be completed by mid-March.

A new agreement between the Groupe financier Major, Union Vie and the Quebec Autism Federation will shave 30% off our insurance premiums.  These savings are quite welcomed!

Partnerships are already confirmed in preparation of the upcoming funding drive to benefit summer Camps as well as for the 16th edition of the Outaouais Autism Walk.  Follow us on Facebook for all the details.

For more information regarding our services or to discuss their needs, we invite member-families to call their contact person at TUOI.  Other parents or adults on the spectrum who wish to obtain more information or make a request for services may leave a message at 819 595-1290, extension 33.
